Listed below is information about benefits offered to permanent full-time employees of Arizona State Parks. Details concerning eligibility and additional information are provided to new employees upon hiring.
Holidays: The State observes 10 paid holidays each year: New Year's Day, MLK/Civil Rights Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day
Annual Leave: For the first three years you accrue annual leave (paid vacation) at the rate of eight hours per month, or 12 days per year. The rate of accrual increases after 3 years, 7 years and 15 years. Up to 30 days of vacation pay can be accumulated and carried forward.

3 to 7 years of service= 4.62
7 to 15 years of service= 5.54
15 years or more= 6.47

All= 6.47
Sick Leave: Leave is accrued at the rate of eight hours per month, or 12 days per year.
Bereavement Leave: The State provides 24 hours paid leave in the event of death of an immediate family member. An additional 16 hours may be granted to attend a funeral out of state.
Health Insurance: The State offers comprehensive health care coverage to eligible employees through a self-insurance program. The type of coverage for the current plan year is chosen by the employee at the time of employment. The State pays the major portion of the premiums for employees and dependents. Since the health insurance is part of a flexible benefits program, employee premiums are on a pre-tax basis.

Dental Insurance: Dental insurance is available to eligible employees and dependents, with premiums paid on a pre-tax basis. Employees may select dental insurance for themselves and their dependents through an indemnity plan or a pre-paid plan.
Two plans to choose from:
Avesis Vision Care: Optional. Premium fully paid by the employee.
Employee Wellness Program: Provides employees a variety of health education classes, preventative health screenings, employee assistance and online resources.
Retirement: The State has an excellent retirement program. An annually adjusted percentage of your gross wage is deducted on a pre-tax basis and matched by the State as contributions to your retirement fund. In addition, State employees are covered by Social Security benefits.Mandatory participation in the Arizona State Retirement System. The contribution rate is 9.1% (8.6% retirement plan, plus 0.5% for long‐term disability program [LTD]). This is a match plan and the 9.1% rate applies to both the employee and the employer.
Deferred Compensation Plan: Optional 401K‐type program.
Standard Short‐Term Disability: Optional. Premium fully paid by the employee.
Standard Life Insurance: $15,000 of basic life insurance for all eligible employees, paid by the state. Employees may purchase additional supplemental life insurance coverage.
Standard Dependent Life Insurance: Optional life insurance is available for spouse, domestic partner and eligible children.
Dependent Care Reimbursement Account (DCRA): DCRA allows an eligible State employee to deposit a portion of each paycheck on a pre-tax basis into a special account to pay for child care or care of a disabled spouse or elderly parent after submitting proper documentation to a third party administrator. DCRA is a flexible spending account, fully employee funded.
Medical Reimbursement Account: The Arizona Medical Reimbursement Account (AMRA) allows an eligible State employee to deposit a portion of each paycheck on a pre-tax basis into a special individual account to pay for out-of-pocket health care expenses for the employee and dependent (as defined by the Internal Revenue Service) after submitting proper documentation to a third party administrator. AMRA is a flexible spending account, fully employee funded.
Credit Union: State employees and dependents are immediately eligible to join a credit union. Credit unions provide many benefits at low costs, and can offer sound financial planning advice to you and your family. Depending upon the agency for which you work, you may become a member of DES Federal Credit Union, Grand Canyon State Employees Federal Credit Union, or Arizona State Employees Saving and Credit Union.
